Gwangyang builds total logistic company
Gwangyang City moved on building the tentatively named Gwangyang Total Logistic Company ?and stressed active port sales.
The city of Gwangyang said Dec. 1 that it would build a total logistic company to take charge of inland transportation, warehousing, a trucker ? lounge and feeder operator to and from Northern China. The city will collaborate with South Cholla Province, Korea Container Terminal Authority and terminal operating companies in Gwangyang Port.
Gwangyang City came to this plan after a China road show Nov. 24~30 with Yeosu Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. The city said that terminal operating companies, shipping companies, shippers, as well as local residents and local social group had to cooperate in unison in order to win amongst severe competition in attracting international cargoes. The city would make and support a ?wangyang China Club ? composed of people from ports, the financial sector, academics and the press. On top of that, it would have a regular China Road Show and try to draw transit cargoes from Northern China and cargoes from the Kyungin area and complete for early development of a Free Economic Zone.
A city official explained the plan saying that domestic shipping companies and shippers suspected to elevate cargo levels through Gwangyang to 10 million TEU by 2011 while Qingdao, Tianjin, Shanghai and Shenzen are also expanding their terminals.
