Hanjin Shipping donates ceremony expenses to charity groups
Hanjin Shipping Long Beach branch donated money allotted for the Long Beach terminal opening ceremony to five charity groups in the US at the end of August around its first anniversary. Though Pier T terminal in Long Beach port launched at the end of August last year, the opening ceremony was delayed due to the first anniversary of 911. This year, however, SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) caused further delays, so Hanjin finally called off the ceremony and donated the $100,000 allocated for it to charity groups. Hanjin Shipping, TTI, a terminal operating company for Hanjin Shipping and MTC, a US west coast terminal operator, donated together. Following recommendations from the Long Beach mayor, the following charities received donations: the American Red Cross, the Long Beach Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Greater Long Beach Chapter, the Atlantic Community Economic Development Corp., the Orange County Chapter of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Long Beach Symphony.
