STX Shipbuilding receives orders for 9 ships
STX Shipbuilding announced December 15 that it received an order for five 74,100 DWT class PCCs, and 4 bulk carriers from Rederi AB Swan in Sweden, Efnav Company and Byzantine Maritime S.A. in Greece, totaling 250 million dollars.
The four 74,100DWT class PCCs STX Shipbuilding accepted orders for from Rederi AB Swan in Sweden are 228 meters long and can reach 16 knots at full speed. One PCC order from Byzantine Maritime S.A. in Greece is for a 71,300 DWT class vessel.
The 4 bulk carriers it accepted orders for from the Efnav Company in Greece are 75,500 DWT each, 225 meters long and will serve 14.5 knots at full speed.
The ships will be handed over from the first half of 2005. To date, STX Shipbuilding has received orders for 46 ships worth 14 billion dollars this year, exceeding its target of 30 ships worth 850 million dollars.
One insider from STX Shipbuilding said, "We expect more orders by the end of this year, and may even make a new record for ourselves"
