Bj?k.Eklund & Partners AS currently employs 14 personnel in Oslo. Its co-founders, Bj?n Eklund and Stefan Bj?k, comment:
?All employees have extensive freight forwarding experience and knowledge of the liner business. Customers will benefit from the staff?s expertise in the different aspects of the business as from the first day of operation.?
Mr Eklund elaborates on the company?s expansion plans:
?We expect to recruit more people to our Oslo office and we will also open further offices elsewhere in Norway. We believe there is a strong demand for companies like ours, small enough to offer a personal service but with the resources to organise secure and reliable transportation and logistic services to anywhere in the world.?
The Bj?k.Eklund Group was originally formed in January 2000 by Mr Bj?k and Mr Eklund when they acquired the company Greenship Sweden and some sister companies in a management buyout. Initially known as Greenship Holding AB, the parent company was renamed the Bj?k.Eklund Group in November 2001.
According to Mr Bj?k, GreenCarrier?s increasing activities represent a key step in establishing the Group throughout Scandinavia:
?We are responding to international demand to build up a single organisation which is able to cover the whole of Scandinavia. Many customers and principals see Scandinavia as a single market and we are aiming to consolidate this perception.?
Lloyd Triestino and CMA CGM to co-operate on the transpacific
The major Italian carrier Lloyd Triestino di Navigazione SpA (LT) and the leading French line CMA CGM have announced that they are to co-operate in the transpacific trade.
This agreement, which is still subject to approval by the relevant governmental authorities, will consist of an exchange of slots between the TPX service of CMA CGM and the CPN/CPS loops of the China-West Coast North America service of LT. Approvals are expected within early May after which each carrier will take 200TEU on each other?s service each week both eastbound and westbound.
The agreement covers all ports on both services.
Port rotations are as follows :
?CPN loop : Qingdao, Shanghai, Pusan, Hakata, Nagoya, Tacoma, Vancouver, Pusan, Qingdao
?CPS loop : Shanghai, Ningbo, Oakland, Los Angeles, Shanghai
?TPX service : Port Klang, Singapore, Hong Kong, Yantian, Xiamen, Pusan, Los Angeles, Oakland, Shanghai, Pusan, Keelung, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Singapore, Port Klang
This co-operation between CMA CGM and Lloyd Triestino will enable both carriers to upgrade their services for the benefit of their customers but without adding to the capacity they offer on the transpacific trades.
