HHI receives five vessel orders
Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) got orders for five vessels worth USD 180 million. HHI revealed March 12th that it received orders for 3 vessels from Golden Union, Greece, and an order for two vessels from Safmarine, South Africa.
After the latter half of last year’s sluggish maritime market, these orders are well received and appreciated, said HHI.
HHI stressed that both companies already gave orders for two vessels in 1999 and 1996, respectively, confirming their mutual favorable relationships.
HHI is planning to deliver three of its own vessels to Golden Union and to give the orders for Safmarine's two vessels to Samho Heavy Industries, now under HHI's management. All five vessels will be delivered by March 2004.
Each vessel will be 289 meters long, 45 meters wide and 24.1 meters deep with a sailing speed of 14.6 knots. They will also be equipped with up-to-date telecommunications, navigation, and an automated sailing system.
