[ H-L Informed Further Improvement in Europe/Far East Service ]
From May 1996, the Grand Alliance, the world’s largest grouping of co
ntainer shipping lines of which Hapag-Lloyd is a member, is improving
its transport services between Europe and the Far East in the context
of its global liner services on the key east-west routes.
The Grand Alliance consortium, consisting of the shipping lines Hapag-
Lloyd, Neptune Orient Lines (NOL), Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) and most
recently P&O Containers, is deploying 34 ships between Europe and the
Far East, making use of four different routes or “loops”and offering
more transport capacity than any other grouping of world-wide contain
er carriers.
This applies both to the links between Europe and the Far East and in
particular to services between Asia and North America within the globa
l service concept of the Grand Alliance.
