Busan Port Authority (BPA) received the grand prize in “100 Best Companies to Work for in Korea in 2013” and “Best Companies to Work for Women in Korea.”
“100 Best Companies to Work for in Korea” is an award given by the U.S. economics magazine Fortune. The award is conducted in 46 nations and it was introduced in 2002 by GWP Korea.
GWP stands for ‘Great Work Place’ and it encompasses diversified activities that can enhance trust between management and labor, employee pride in the workplace, and enjoyable and close relationships among colleagues.
BPA President Ki-tack Lim’s leadership and his considerate management enabled CEO and employees to communicate actively through email and Kakao Talk. In addition, his efforts to interact with employees, including inviting employees’ family to Busan Port and providing foreign language education, were highly praised.
Furthermore, BPA was chosen as one of the “Best Companies to Work for Women in Korea” for offering equal promotion and employment opportunities regardless of gender, one hour nursing time for female employees who have children under one year old, and operating a family day encouraging employees to leave the office at the regular time.
The evaluation focused on corporate culture, such as philosophy, policy, vision, communication level, participation, and subjective questions and a ‘Trust Management Index’ that measures trust, respect, fairness and pride.
BPA President Ki-tack Lim said, “The company must have an enjoyable working environment in order to become a public corporation that is loved by people. We will continue our efforts to become a great workplace.”
Meanwhile, the award ceremony for the “100 Best Companies to Work for in Korea” will be held at Seoul 63 Bldg. Convention Center on the 7th.
