NWA, CMA CGM cuts Asia-U.S. East Coast capacity
The New World Alliance carriers APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines(MOL), with service partner CMA CGM plan to skip sailings on their joint Asia-U.S. East Coast service from mid-December to the end of March.
The service is deployed by the New World lines as the East Coast Savannah Express(ESX). The port rotation is Ningbo - Shanghai - Chiwan - Hong Kong - Manzanillo - Panama - Savannah - New York - Norfolk and Ningbo again.
MOL said this represented a 13% reduction in capacity on its east coast services.
"It did not rule out future additional network adjustments to minimize the impact of dramatically higher costs on their respective businesses," the carriers said in a joint statement.
