Hanjin Shipping to charter five new container vessels
Hanjin Shipping has signed up to charter five new 3,400 TEU container vessels.
Hanjin Shipping will charter the five new vessels from Danaos Shipping for a maximum of thirteen years. The order was placed with Hanjin Heavy Industries.
The vessels are scheduled for delivery from late 2009.
The vessels are expected to be deployed on the Mediterranean and South America routes and help boost profitability by reducing operation costs.
Hanjin Shipping operates approximately ninety container vessels on sixty routes worldwide. The carrier plans to constantly introduce modern fleets of various sizes ideal for each service route as part of its efforts to expand and rationalise its fleets.
