[Namechange Completes HUAL’s Corporate Identity Program]
The commonly used short from HUAL will from October 1 become the offic
ial company name of Oslo-based vehicle carrier specialist Hoegh-Ugland
Auto Liners. The company’s subsidiaries and branch offices worldwid
e, which up to now have traded under the “Autoliners” name, will als
o be renamed and will from now on be called “HUAL” plus a suffix den
ominating their country or region.
A joint veture between Norway’s Leif Hoegh & Co. ASA and the Cayman-r
egistered Ugland International holdings plc. HUAL is one of the world
’s leading operators of ro/ro car carriers. The company operates a f
leet of about 30 owned or chartered PCTCs(Pure Car/Truck Carrier) with
annual liftings of about 900,000 car equivalent units on deep-sea rou
tes worldwide.
The company has seen a sharp increase in its business in recent years,
embodied in an expanding network of trade routes and branch offices,
and has recently ordered three 6200-capacity PCTCs from shipyards in J
apan, Korea and Poland for delivery first half 1999. The corporate id
entity program has a.o. included a redesigned logo and a new paint sch
eme for the company’s ships, and the namechange must be seen as a nat
ural and logical extensive of the company’s efforts to promote a unif
orm corporate identity for its worldwide activities.
“The old company name was long and awkward to pronounce”. Mr. Per Dr
ange Hansen, HUAL’s representative in Korea, said. “ In most markets
the short from HUAL is will extablished and is recognized as one of t
he premier brand names in vehicle transportation. It therefore makes a
lot of sense to change the company name to HUAL both for the main off
ice and the branch offices.”
HUAL is represented in Korea by Auto Shipping Co. Ltd., Seoul.
