NOL Announced the Christening of Two New 831TEU Containrships
Neptune Orient Lines Ltd(NOL) recently announced the christening of tw
o new 831teu containerships in Jurong Shipyard Ltd(JSL) in Singapore.
The two containerships were christened on Friday, 19 September 1997 by
Mrs. Noriko Kuga, the wife of Mr. Yasuhiro Kuga, managing director of
SONY International(Singapore) Ltd.
The two new 831teu containerships, “Jurong Beharo” and “Jurong Begu
nia”, are fully cellular containerships and are equipped with the lat
est maritime technology for efficient performance. They are capable o
f operating at a speed of 16.5 knots. Both containerships are schedul
es to be delivered in October and December this year.
The newbuilding are part of the upgrading and renewal. Programme of N
OL’s fleet to enhance its competitive edge, improve its quality servi
ce and the marine environment. This reflects NOL’s commitment to pro
vide a comprehensive and quality global. Transportation service for i
ts valued customers.
