A Sharp expansion for 16 port facilities on the east coast
Including New-Pohang port, Sadong port on Ullung island, and Joukbyeon port in Uljin, 16 port facilities will be sharply expanded or reinforced next year. According to PRMAMF (Pohang Regional Maritime Affairs & Fisheries) various facilities including 353m of breakwater, 50m of embankment and 100m of berth length, and 28m of shore quay will be built to reinforce the ports at a cost of 75.3 billion won next year.
The details of the work are the construction of a 300m breakwater in New-Youngilman port, 25m breakwater in Gouryongpo port, 28m breakwater and 100 meter berth for ferries in Sadong port in Ullung island, and the rebuilding of a 28m shore quay in New-Pohang port. The spokesperson added that the construction work in New-Youngilman port, New-Pohang port, Gouryongpo port and Sadong port would begin next week at a cost of 52.3 billion won and the rest of the work would soak up the remaining 23 billion won of the budget.
