1st cargo ship calls at Yeongilmanhang

Pohang Regional Maritime Affairs and Port Office (Administrator Jin-Hak No) noted that a cargo vessel called at Yeongilmanhang's general dock for the first time.

The “Ocean Virgo”, weighing 30,000 tons, docked at the port on the 26th of April. The vessel was filled with 4,000 tons of pipes that from the steel industrial complex at Pohang. The “Ocean Virgo” is sailing to Huston.

The general dock can handle 2 vessels of 20,000 tons at the same time, or 1,322,000 tons of cargo per year. General merchandise goods will be the main item handled at the port.

A representative of the Port of Pohang said, “The general dock will be invigorated with Yeongilmanhang container dock, which opened in 2009. We're looking forward to great synergy between the two docks.” < 김보람 기자 brkim@ksg.co.kr >
