the port set another record for container movements in April. The por
t moved 336,924TEUs over its piers last month─ a 21.7% increase in co
mparison with last April. The figure of April 1998 surpassed the previ
ous record of 333,334TEUs set just one month earlier. Loaded import bo
xes rose nearly 18% over last year’s figure to 172,247TEUs. Loaded ex
port containers dropped 6.1% to 87,271TEUs, while empty containers jum
ped by 104.1% to 77,406TEUs.
