$80 billion of air cargoes fly through Incheon
In the first half of this year Incheon Airport recorded $80 billion in trade from air cargoes.
According to Incheon Airport Customs on July 23, air freight through the airport was $81 billion, up 8% from $75 billion last year. These air cargoes represent a 27% market share of total domestic air freight ($304 billion) in the first half of this year.
The airport recorded $118.1 billion in 2003, $150.6 billion in 2004, and $158.8 billion in 2005. Given the current market, Incheon will surpass $160 billion this year.
Exports recorded $42 billion, up 3% from the same period of last year, while imported cargoes increased 13% to $39 billion. With the trade balance in the black, Incheon Airport Customs increased 20.2% to $1,570.2 billion from tax collections on import cargoes thanks to increases in import cargoes.
Incheon Airport positioned itself as first in import cargoes recording $38.9 billion while Pusan Port took first in export cargoes with $42 billion, edging Incheon into second place for exports.
