High number of problems for foreign ships at Ulsan port
Foreign ships experience more problems at Ulsan Port than any other domestic port.
According to the Ulsan Regional Maritime Affairs & Fisheries Office, 59 of 75 foreign vessels had 292 problems in the first quarter of this year, 6.1% higher than the country average of 72.6%.
By nationality, 3 countries including 24 Panamanian vessels, 9 Chinese vessels and 8 Cambodian vessels shared 55% of all problems. Panamanian, Liberian and Cambodian vessels were delayed in leaving the port, a 4% delay rate compared to the country average of 4.57%. By vessel type, general cargo ships had 47% (35 vessels), chemical tankers 35% (26 vessels), bulk ships 15% (16 vessels), and vessels over 10 years were 71%.
An insider at the Ulsan Regional Maritime Affairs & Fisheries Office said, "Though vessels docking at Ulsan Port indicated more problems than at other domestic ports, the vessels' conditions were relatively good."
