ECU-Line is Suffering on Truck-Transportation in Colombia.

ECU-Line is getting very strong to Colombia. They have their own netwo
rk in Colombia under the “FLAMINGO LINE”umbrella, with headoffice in
Bogota.
ECU-Line is offering a direct fortnightly service to Buenaventura with
a transit time of 18 days. From Buenaventure, onforwarding possibilit
ies are offered to Cali and Medellin.
Weekly direct services are also offered to Cartagena with a transit ti
me of 17days and from there, onforwardings take place to Bogota, Barra
nquilla and Santa Martha.
At this moment Colombia is being affected by internal problems with Eu
errilla bands... This phenomenon has caused serious problems co the wa
ys that connect ports with the rest of the country, due to the fact th
at these kind of groups many times don’t permit that the trucks trans
port the cargoes normally. And in some cases the cargoes are stolen by
them, or the trucks are destroyed.
Due to this situation, the trucking companies have increased the inlan
d freight and the insurance of the cargoes. For this reason ECU-Line/F
lamingo Line is asking you for your understanding in case the costs of
the transport exceed the rates established between your company and F
lamingo Line De Colombia. In these cases they will ask you for your au
thorization. The Government is trying to solve these problems, but the
y don’t konw how long this will take.
