Coastal ship introduces foreigner industrial trainee program

The KSA (Korea Shipping Association) reached an agreement for the introduction of the coastal ship foreigner industrial trainee program with the FKSU (Federation of Korean Seafarers' Union) on June 13.
Foreigner industrial trainee introduction for coastal ships was deferred in 1997 due to the currency crisis. It was originally introduced by the government in 1996.
Lately, as there is a deepening crew shortage for coastal business, the association has agreed to introduce 500 foreigner industrial trainees at the June 13 conference with the FKSU.
The association announced that this introduction would contribute to smoother crew demand fulfillment for coastal ships and promote crew welfare.
