Mediterranean RAte Agreement (MRA) Eastbound Rate Restoration

The Member lines of the Mediterranean Rate Agreement, (MRA), formerly
known as MEDFEC and covering the trade between the Mediterranean and t
he Far East, at their meeting held on 28-07-00 have decided to impleme
nt a Rate Restoration in the Eastbound trade of USD 250 × container (
20' and 40') with effect from 1 October, 2000, in consideration of t
he fact that cargoes are still moving at very low rates despite an ove
rall growth of Mediterranean Eastbound throuput of over 9 % during the
first half 2000 vis a vis 1999.
Such increase will regard all Med and Black Sea origins to all Far Eas
t destinations (including Japan) with the exception of Israel.
