Lloyd Triestino reveals details of Pacific plans

Following the announcement in June that it was re-entering the t
ranspacific trades, Lloyd Triestino (LT) has given details of its firs
t sailings. These will be provided by means of a slot charter arrangem
ent with Evergreen on the US East Coast - Asia sectors of its weekly R
ound-the-World Eastbound (RWE) and Westbound (RWW) services.

Eastbound to the US, this new weekly service calls at Hong Kong,
Kaohsiung, Pusan and four Japanese ports: Osaka, Nagoya, Tokyo and Sh
imizu. Westbound, the port calls are Tokyo, Osaka, and Hakata in Japa
n plus Pusan, Kaohsiung and Hong Kong. The US ports served are
Charleston, Baltimore (eastbound), Norfolk (westbound) and New York.
The first RWE sailing will be the 4229TEU Ever Result, departing Hong
Kong on 31 August while the first RWW sailing will be the 4211 TEU
Ever Divine from New York, also on 31 August.

In addition to the RWE/RWW service, LT will also offer a minibridge
alternative to New York over Tacoma under the terms of a vessel
sharing agreement with Evergreen on its weekly TPN service. Thi
s is an interim arrangement; with effect from 1 November, 2000, LT
will offer a full transpacific service using the TPN post-Panamax flee
t. LT will contribute a 5364TEU charter vessel to this five-ship serv
ice.

LT is also concluding a slot-charter agreement with Evergreen in re
spect of its HTW service and with effect from early November, the Ita
lian line will have two weekly services to and from the North American
West Coast.
The TPN service operates the following port rotation: Kaohsiung- Hong
Kong- Osaka - Tokyo - Tacoma - Vancouver -Tacoma - Toky - Nagoya - Os
aka- Kaohsiung.

Meanwhile, the HTW service calls:
Pusan - Kaohsiung - Hong Kong - Los Angeles - Portland - Vancouver
- Tacoma.

LT Chairman Pier Luigi Maneschi explains that the carrier is expanding
its North American operations in a carefully planned fashion:
"We are establishing our own office network in North America and as
this expands, so will the range of services we intend to of
fer. As a responsible carrier, we will grow our business steadily
in line with the growth in our network of offices, people and systems
."
