The Korean-flagged three musketeers are joining forces on the South-East sea.
KMTC, Sinokor and CK Line announced on August 23 that they will launch a new container trade lane on the Vietnam and Thailand trade beginning next month. The service named 'VTS' will operate starting September 13 with three 1,000 TEU class vessels.
KMTC will deploy the "Pancon Challenge", which is chartered from Pan Container Shipping, while Sinokor and CK Line will deploy the "Sinokor Hong Kong" and "Sky Evolution". The ships will call with the following rotation: Busan - Gwangyang - Bang Kok - Laem Chabang - Hong Kong - Shekou - Xiamen - Busan.
Especially, Bangkok port is known as a difficult port to enter because it's a kind of river port. For such reasons, the Korean carriers decided to advance to that port owing to competition with major shippers under equal terms.
Meanwhile CK Line could be a specialized carrier on the South-East sea as the company participates in this service. CK Line has already operated another service calling in Vietnam and Thailand. The company has launched the 'KVT' trade with Namsung Shipping since May. < 김보람 기자 brkim@ksg.co.kr >
