DSME signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on April 10th with Peru's Ministry of Defense for naval vessel co-production at the head quarters of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA). This MOU is expected to assist DSME in making inroads into the South American defense market.
Through this agreement, DSME will provide technological support and oversee the construction of the naval vessels ordered by the Peruvian Government. The Government of Peru has the desire to enter into large scale naval vessel projects which includes submarines, submarine depot maintenance, and multipurpose naval support vessels.
In order to conclude this MOU, DSME worked closely with the Government of the Republic of Korea and the President and CEO of DSME, Mr. Jaeho Ko, who said, "ME has gained an advantageous position by signing this MOU for the construction of Peru’s naval vessels.
If the final contract is a success, DSME will have made inroads into defense markets in Asia, Europe, and South America." < Korea Shipping Gazette >
