Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME, CEO Jae-Ho Ko) announced the company landed its first order for 2012.
DSME entered into a shipbuilding contract with the Angelicoussis Group on April 12th. Mr. Ko, the CEO of DSME, and Mr. John Angelicoussis, the chairman of Angelicoussis Group, signed on the order book for 2 x 160,000㎥ LNG carriers in Athens, Greece.
The vessels will be built at Okpo Shipyard and delivered in mid 2015. After delivery, Maran Gas Maritime, a gas sector subsidiary of Angelicoussis Group, will sail the ships.
At the contract ceremony, Mr. Man-Ho Sung, chairman of the labor union accompanied Mr. Ko and they made a resolution to succeed in the project. A representative of Maran Gas Maritime said, "We eagerly anticipate that DSME and its union join forces for a perfect result in this miserable ship building market."
Angelicoussis Group is the biggest shipping company in Greece which has hundreds vessels.
