Incheon Airport named World Best for 6th year in Service Quality
The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs announced that Incheon Airport was selected the best airport for the sixth consecutive year in Airport Service Quality in 2010, which is colloquially known as the Nobel Prize of the airport sector.
The ASQ is a comprehensive set of awards granted by Airports Council International, an association of around 1,700 airports worldwide.
Incheon Airport is the first airport to be ranked as the Best Airport Worldwide for six years in a row (2005-2010). It also won first places in Best Airport in Asia Pacific and Best Airport with annual passenger traffic between 25 and 40 million.
In its first entry into the survey, Gimpo Airport successfully demonstrated the high quality of the Korean airport to the world by winning first place in the mid-sized airport category and sixth place in a comprehensive survey in 2010.
The Ministry officials point out that the results are a remarkable achievement of innovative thinking from construction to operation of Incheon Airport.
Incheon port, built on reclaimed land between Yeongjong and Yongyu Islands, was based on a shift in thinking that is highly innovative at the moment.
Rather than just benchmarking other leading airport such as Changi Airport in Singapore, Incheon Airport has constantly pursued innovation and change.
The officials also said, ?he government so far has made efforts to develop Incheon Airport as a Northeast Asian hub,?by expanding its international routes by means of strategic air transport liberalization policies, improving the airport? accessibility by establishing a railway and Incheon Bridge, which connects it with nearby cities, and offering prompt and efficient services to users.
