Social gathering with tenants of New Port's Logistics Complex
Busan Port Authority (BPA) held a social gathering with tenants of New Port Hinterland Logistics Complex to listen to their needs at BPA headquarters on February 3, with 30 representatives of tenant companies including BIDC.
Roh Gi-tae, BPA president, asked tenants to try to secure more trade volume, saying that though the global economic tides are rough and wild, the successes of tenants are the key to the survival of Busan Port.
He also asked them to join forces in raising the transshipment cargo share from the current 45% up to 70% to contribute to the national economy. In the gathering, tenants asked BPA to delay the first 3 years of trade volume attraction evaluation system until the tide calms down and to complete the hinterland road construction as soon as possible.
On the other hand, 11 companies currently have started their operations among 30 tenants and 11 companies are expected to finish their move-ins by the end of this year. BPA will run a wanted ad for tenants for the Ung-dong Hinterland Logistics Complex this coming July or August.
An official at BPA said that BPA will do its best to develop Busan Port into a high value-added port by vitalizing the hinterland logistics complex of New Port.<Korea Shipping Gazette>
