Transfer of marine technology into 11 Asian and African nations
The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs will invite 15 governmental officials from 11 Asian and African nations out of the IHO member states to provide the training course of Marine Exploration Technology.
During the training course sponsored by KOICA, participants will learn the latest marine exploration technologies for making electronic marine charts, measuring airborne lasers and responding to marine accidents and how to operate cutting edge equipment such as a multi-beam and ARGOS drifter.
In addition, they will board the marine exploration ship “MARINE 2000” and operate equipment in person, then visit Hyundai Heavy Industries and Busan New Port.
The Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Administration under MLTM said that the training course will give an opportunity for Korea to transfer cutting edge marine exploration technology and inform on the historicity and legitimacy of the name of the East Sea.
Furthermore, it will continuously research marine exploration technologies and dispatch experts to foreign countries to raise the national status and gain support for the name of the East Sea on the map.<Korea Shipping Gazette>
