Swire Shipping launches new North Asia - Australia breakbulk service
Swire Shipping Ltd. (SSL) will open its new direct monthly multipurpose liner shipping service linking northern China and Korea with main ports on the East Coast of Australia.
At the same time SSL? existing Australia-South Pacific Islands service will be upgraded and expanded by improving the sailing frequency from 35 days to 30 days and introducing a northbound call at Guam.
The current Pacific Island vessel ?iribati Chief?will switch with her sister-vessel in the PNG service, ?otearoa Chief” (to be renamed the ?acific Horizon”), and the oral Chief” (to be renamed acific Harmony”) will be released from her trans-Tasman deployment, making up the 2-ship service framework, operating on a 60 day round-trip schedule and enabling fixed date departures from key ports.
The vessels are modern multipurpose ships, owned and operated by SSL’s parent company, The China Navigation Company, Hong Kong. They are well equipped to handle and carry both breakbulk and container cargoes.<Korea Shipping Gazette>
