BPA decided host an annual event to raise awareness of Busan Port’s status and importance for citizens from this year on. The Busan Port Festival, which is expected to become a representative festival of Busan, will be held with various themes and programs where citizens take part. Busan City, the Busan Regional Maritime Affairs and Office and Busan Port Authority (BPA) announced on May 7th that they decided to hold the 1st Busan Port Festival around the Busan International Cruise Terminal from May 30th to June 1st.
The festival will boast the history of Busan Port and raise pride for Busan Port as “Korea’s Marine Capital” while utilizing the festival as a marketing arena for visitors from both home and abroad.
Visitors can take tour of the fifth largest port in the world and board the BPA port guide ship or the Tezroc cruise ship and view container boxes full of cargo. Other activities include a model ship contest, a composition contest and a quiz about Busan Port.
The opening ceremony is scheduled to be held on a special stage at the International Cruise Terminal at 7:30 pm with about 5,000 guests including the Busan mayor and BPA president.
BPA will also hold an international event to facilitate exchanges between ICHCA conference participants and domestic logistics companies on the first floor of the Cruise Terminal at 5:30 pm.
An official said that the Busan Port Festival will serve as a stimulus to raise awareness of the status of Busan Port and promote the port as a hub port in North East Asia. He continued to note that advanced international ports across the world hold various port-related festivals to inform their citizens of the importance of the ports. <Korea Shipping Gazette>
