A. P. MØller Christening of the Maersk Willow in Korea
On Tuesday 27 September 2005, A.P. Moller Singapore Pte Ltd's latest newbuilding, a 5000 units PCTC, built in Korea was named. Our gracious Lady Sponsor, Mrs. Kuniko Hagiwara, wife of Managing Executive Officer S. Hagiwara, Mitsui OSK Lines Ltd., honoured the owner, A.P. Moller Singapore Pte Ltd, by naming the newbuilding MAERSK WILLOW in Korea at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering's Okpo Shipyard in Geoje Island, Korea.
The President of Maersk Tankers, Mr. Soren Skou, hosted the namegiving, which was attended by customers, representatives from the maritime industry and employees from the A.P. Moller- Maersk Group.
With MAERSK WILLOW, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd., is continuing the delivery of a series of updated Pure Car and Truck Carriers for the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group.
The choice of materials for the vessel as well as the interior is of highest quality. Its 6-cylinder diesel engine from B&W develops 18,420 BHP at 105 RPM. With MAERSK WILLOW, the standard for environmentally friendly vessels has also been further increased.
With a deck area of about 45,000 m2 and an intake of about 5,000 cars the vessel will be one of the largest in A.P. Moller Singapore Pte Ltd's fleet of 10 Pure Car and Truck Carriers.
MAERSK WILLOW is registered in Singapore and will be commanded by Captain Arpan Prasad, with Mr. Yash Anand as Chief Engineer.
