Gwangyang Port to operate 24 hours a day
Gwangyang Port container wharf will change to a 24-hour operation system.
Yeosu Regional Maritime Affaires & Fisheries Office announced on June 7 that the container wharf would operate 24 hours daily, strengthening customer service and improving the port.
Yeosu Regional Maritime Affaires & Fisheries Office decided to change to a 24-hour operation system for the wharf in a workshop for the development of Gwangyang Port last month. It is operating the system by way of showing an example this month and will put it into full operation from next month.
The existing Gwangyang Port system was limited to cargoes being handled from 11 pm to 8 am except at some terminals (KIT, HKCT) because of low cargoes (20~50 TEU monthly) during operational hours.
Incheon, Ulsan, Mokpo and Masan ports operate 24-hour terminal systems. Pusan Port is currently preparing to introduce a 24-hour operation system.
