Southeast Asian routes confirm GRI for April

Member lines in Southeast Asian routes confirmed a 2005 business plan that contains a general rates increase of 100 dollar per TEU starting in April.

The Shipowners Committee for Asia Lines Services said it decided to implement the rates hike in accordance with the decision at the IADA Shipowners' meeting.

However, it decided not to introduce CAF as shipping companies and shippers are having difficulties with falling exchange rates.

It also decided not to introduce an overweight surcharge for cargoes like stone, glass, paper and tiling when they are over 16 tonnes per TEU or 26 tonnes per FEU.
