8,200 TEU Hugo calls at Pusan
8,000TEU class mega container ship called at Pusan ‘Port since the opening of the port.
According to the Suh Jin Agency’ the 8,200 TEU class vessel 'Hugo' from CMA CGM, a French shipping company, called at the Hutchison Terminal in Gamman wharf at Pusan Port August 7. The Suh Jin Agency is a domestic agent for CMA CGM.
The Hugo entered Pusan after passing through China and Hong Kong after being launched from the Ulsan Hyundai Dockyard on July 26. The Hugo loaded about 600 TEU of transfer cargoes and left the port for LA Port at 7 p.m. the same day.
The Hugo is the largest container ship in the world, measuring 334 meters long, 42 meters wide, and consuming 60 million won a day in fuel costs.
The BPA (Busan Port Authority) held a celebratory event for the calling of the Hugo at Gamman wharf at 10 a.m., July 26.
An insider from the BPA said, "Pusan Port has proved itself a top class port as even massive vessels like the Hugo call there."
The second largest container ship calling at Pusan Port was a 6,000 TEU class vessel from P&O Nedlloyd.
