The Pusan Port Council for development submitted a proposal for port growth to the BPA (Busan Port Authority). The council announced, "The proposal concerns about 40 problems in 7 areas for the BPA and Pusan Port development," and added, "It was submitted to MOMAF, Pusan Regional Maritime Affairs & Fisheries Office, and Busan Metropolitan City on January 8."
The proposal covers 40 points in 7 areas. In the BPA section of the proposal, it requests to guarantee the independence of public corporations and customer's rights and to settle property delivery problems with the KCTA (Korea Container Terminal Authority), and to proactively manage port sales.
In the area of facility expansion, it requests preserving a 17m water depth for large-sized container ship berthing, stevedoring equipment modernization for productivity increases, and an earlier opening for the new port.
Additionally, the proposal has 22 suggestions for Pusan Port development in the operation section, port business, marine transportation safety, as well as several others.
One insider from the council said, "MOMAF, Pusan Regional Maritime Affairs & Fisheries Office and Pusan Metropolitan City were positive about the proposal January 8."
