BPA troubles in first step to select Port Commissioner
The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries caused ripples with two delays in announcing the list of port commissioners for the Busan Port Authority (BPA) committee, the top decision-makers of the BPA. The Pusan Port Stevedoring Union insisted that one of the commissioners should be chosen from among labor delegates.
MOMAF originally planned to start a port committee in order to select the president of the BPA after officially announcing the list of port commissioners on the afternoon of Dec. 2.
However, Mr. J.H. Choi, director of the shipping and logistics bureau, said that they decided to delay for one day to announce the port commissioners due to the necessity for thorough evaluation of 11 port commissioners. MOMAF originally planned to announce the results Dec. 1, but delayed because they couldn? reach one potential commissioner. At that time, they didn`t mention the evaluation procedure.
