[ NOL Christened Two New Panamax Bulkers & Two Tankers ]
Neptune Orient Lines(NOL) is pleased to announce the christening of tw
o new 73,000 dwt panamax bulk carriers and two new 99,300 crude oil ta
nkers in SamSung Heavy Industries(SHI) shipyard in South Korea. The fo
ur vessels were christened on 18 November, 1996. Monday.
The two new tankers, to be named ‘EEAGLE BEAUMONT’and ‘EAGLE BORMIN
GHAM’are the 3rd and 4th vessel to be delivered to bayway refining co
mpany for a long term period charter. The ffirst two vessels, EAGLE BO
STON and EAGLE BALTIMORE were successfully deliered to the charterers
on 9 July and 12 September this year.
The two new double hulled crude oil tankers incoperate the latest tech
nological features which meet the requirements of the us oil pollution
Act(OPA). These tankers have six pairs of caargo tanks segregated by
a centreline bulkhead. They are capable of operating at a speed of 15K
not. The two new panamax bulkcarriers will have good cargo capacity an
d are more fuel effcient compared to the order tonnages.
These new buildings are part of the upgrading and renewal programme of
NOL’s fleet to enhance its competitive edge, omprove its quality ser
vice and the marine environment. This reflects NOL’s commitment to pr
ovide a compremensive and quality global transpertation servece for it
s valhed customers.
