Korea Line records large profits in first half
The Korea Line Corporation announced on August 5 that it recorded brilliant profits in first half. Trading profits marked 23 billion won, for an increase of 81.1% in comparison with the same period last year, while sales at 256.8 billion won increased 3.3%. Especially, sales in the 2nd quarter marked 143.2 billion won, for an increase of 26%, while the 1st quarter increased 16%. Trading profits in the 2nd quarter hit 12 billion won.
"We expecting better profits in the 2nd half of this year. That's because we foresee a good showing in industrial carrier and bulk carrier areas. The estimated sales and trading profits for this year are 540 billion won, 12% or 55 billion won higher than last year" a KLC officer said.
The market for bulk carriers is strong because of increasing cargo demand and decreasing cargo supply this year.
