P&O Nedlloyd to take delivery of 5000 refrigeration machines
In response to rapid growth in the reefer trade, P&O Nedlloyd has reached agreement with the Japanese manufacturer Daikin for the delivery of 5000 new refrigeration machines for expansion of their reefer container fleet during 2003, with options for additional future production.
The agreement has been signed in Rotterdam by Rutger van Slobbe,
Executive Director of P&O Nedlloyd, Tsutomu Koike of Daikin and Eiji Nonaka of Itochu as European representatives of Daikin.
After testing the reefer boxes for more than a year and assisting Daikin with the development of their product, P&O Nedlloyd believes the Daikin machines are the best available in the market and is confident that they will contribute to an even better service for customers.
P&O Nedlloyd's growth in the reefer trade has been boosted by the successful introduction of the new round the world Europe ? Australia/New Zealand ? US East Coast service, which employs one of the world's most modern and technically advanced reefer container fleets.
