Evergreen expands its Far East - Mediterranean (FEM) service to include China
From mid November, Evergreen is to add the Chinese ports of Ningbo and Xiamen to its Far East - Mediterranean (FEM) service to meet the increasing demand for space from China to Europe. It is also to add an eastbound call at its Mediterranean hub port Taranto so as to improve eastbound transit times for shippers in the Adriatic, East Med and Black Sea regions.
The change will, for the first time, provide Evergreen customers in the West Mediterranean with direct connections to and from China.
Evergreen already offers a direct service between China and North Europe through a slot share agreement with Lloyd Triestino on its CEM service which covers the ports of Yantian, Ningbo and Shanghai. The CEM service also calls Taranto to provide transhipment access to the entire Mediterranean area.
To enable the FEM service, on which Lloyd Triestino also has a slot allocation, to maintain its weekly schedule and competitive transit times, the port of Trieste is now being served on a dedicated feeder basis over Taranto, as is Venice. This gives the two lines’ customers in the North Adriatic smooth and reliable access via Taranto to both the FEM and CEM sailings to and from Asia.
The revised FEM schedule is as follows:
Ningbo - Xiamen - Hong Kong - Kaohsiung - Tanjung Pelepas - Colombo - Taranto - Genoa - Fos - Barcelona - Valencia - Taranto - Jeddah - Colombo - Port Klang - Tanjung Pelepas - Kaohsiung - Ishigaki - Ningbo
The first FEM vessel to load in China will be LT Guard 0878-113W sailing Ningbo on 13 November and Xiamen on 15 November.
