KSA requests empty containers be returned from Mexico
The Korea Shipowner's Association (KSA) called for the Korean government to solve a lack of empty containers which have been detained in Mexico as the Mexican government intensified clearing import cargoes.
The KSA revealed that as of the end of September, 381 empty containers from Korean shipping companies have been detained by the Mexican Customs Service, of which 200 empty containers have been detained for over 1 year. The KSA said that the Mexican government, which has intensified customs clearance to eliminate smuggling, postponed returning empty containers due to a lack of finances. The association asserted that the container shortage because of US western port strikes has to be solved.
