Samjoo prepares for normal operation

The Samjoo Co. labor union, an operator in the 7th harbor at the Port of Pusan, finally settling on a single union system.
The worker’s union of Samjoo Co., which is under court-receivership, decided to dissolve itself in a general meeting on 28th August. 94.5% of union members joined the Pusan Stevedoring Union, ending antagonism between the company and workers concerning a two-union system.
As the largest problems, such as double union system and lack of stevedoring facilities was fixed, the company pledged to finish its court receivership as early as possible. The company complimented stevedoring facilities with a gantry crane and a harbor crane as well as berth reinforcement work with an investment of 3.5 billion won.
Mr. Oh, president of the company, revealed that the ‘SS Singapore’, belonging to Sinokor Merchant Marine, was deployed, successfully finishing the loading process from September 2. It will handle 12,000 TEU cargoes every month through stevedoring work six times a week, and prepare for stable management, he added.
