Daesan Port opens 8th container route
Seosan-Daesan Port has launched its 8th container route and its 1st Japan Service.
Seosan City signed an Operation Agreement with Wan Hai Lines on the inauguration of its regular container routes for Daesan Port.
Following the agreement, Wan Hai Lines, based in Taipei, Taiwan is slated to sail for Busan through the Daesan - Dalian - Kaohsiung - Hong Kong - Haiphong - Fangcheng - Hakata - Moji routes. A 15,000 tonne vessel, which loads 1,000 to 1,500 TEU arrives at Daesan Port every Tuesday.
This year, the city expects to handle 85,000 TEU with the inauguration of the new route and the influx of the freight plying between Korea and Japan that used to reach other ports. This is the second commencement of new regular container routings for this year after the inauguration of EAS International Shipping on April 15th, 2015.
Mayor Wan-Seop Lee stated, "The city has put forth multilateral marketing activities for the new route opening and freight inducement, such as Briefing Sessions for the Shipping Companies and Shippers, the Container Incentives Support and Overseas Sales Activities. We will spur the process of core businesses that would lead the local development with the inauguration of the overseas passenger ship and construction for the Daesan-Dangjin highway in the future."
Along with the potential causes, the additional routing at Daesan Port is expected to launch as Seosan City and shipping companies are making progress on the opening of the new seaway.
