Korean Air Completes Private Cargo Terminal at JFK Airport
Korean Air has built an up-to-date large-scale cargo terminal in New Y
ork. Korean Air held an opening ceremony for the cargo terminal on Oct
ober 10th with the presence of Cho Chunghon, chairman of the Hanjin Gr
oup, and Cho Yangho, president of Korean Air. This terminal is tentati
vely scheduled to start operations November 1st.
The New York cargo terminal was built to replace the existing one and
to prepare for continuing cargo increases. It is located beside the ol
d terminal with the capacity to handle 200 thousand tons. This is the
sixth air cargo terminal since Korean Air opened their L.A. air cargo
terminal in 1981.
The terminal could be a model case for completing construstion entirel
y with invited private foreign capital i.e. $120 million (110 billion
won).
