APL to Offer Le Havre on Transatlantic Service
Effective immediately APL is adding a port call in Le Havre to one of the three transatlantic strings that it operates with partners in The New World Alliance (TNWA) and Maersk Sealand.
The new port rotation will occur in an overhauled APX service, which will be inaugurated with a call at Le Havre on 11th March.
From Le Havre the service boasts a transit of seven days to New York, and will then call at Norfolk, Charleston and Manzanillo (Panama). The eastbound leg from Panama consists of calls at Charleston, Norfolk, New York, Rotterdam, Felixstowe and Le Havre once more. The fixed-day, weekly service features eastbound transit times of New York-Le Havre in eleven days and Norfolk-Le Havre in thirteen.
APL Europe's Vice-President of Sales and Marketing, David Appleton, comments, "With this welcome additional call at Le Havre, APL is now able to offer the French market two transatlantic services each week. The move is in keeping with our policy of continually enhancing APL's service offering in Europe and of extending our customers' options when they ship with APL."
