HMM deploys the largest container vessel in Asia-PSW trade
The largest and fastest container vessel in the world will call at Pusan.
Hyundai Merchant Marine disclosed on Feb. 14 that it will operate the 6,500 TEU 'Hyundai Kingdom', which is being built at Hyundai Heavy Industries, in trades between Asia and the West Coast of North America after being delivered to HMM on Feb. 16.
With dimensions of 304m in length, 40m in width and 24.2m in depth, this vessel will boast being the world's largest container vessel.
HMM currently has the largest container vessels, with seven 5,551 TEU containerships of 275m in length, and plans to deploy five new container vessels as big as the 'Hyundai Kingdom' in Asia and the West Coast of North America, the largest market in the first half of this year.
HMM said, "To pre-occupy markets, it is inclined for the main global carriers to deploy large-sized container vessels in world shipping markets. HMM predicts carrying 1.86 million TEU of cargoes, up 10 percent this year as the result of container vessels marking 38 units."
