SK shipping grabs LNG carrying rights
SK Shipping announced Jan. 19th that among all bids, the Korea Gas Cooperation picked SK up to charter a new LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) vessel.
This bid represents the right to transport gas with one vessel for the long-term contract that the Korea Gas Cooperation signed for LNG with Qatar in 1997. SK shipping may carry 600 thousand tons of gas annually from 2003 to 2005. SK shipping explained that it would carry 4 million tons of LNG per year with the deployment of 6 vessels, including 5 vessels already in operation.
Samsung Heavy Industries will build this additional vessel to be deployed in this LNG transport project.
