Korean cargo and passenger traffic takes 8th place
Domestic airliners held eighth place for cargo handling since 2000.
According to the '2004 Aviation Year Book' published by the Korea Civil Aviation Development Association, among ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) member countries, Korea airliners ranked sixth in 2000, eighth in 2001 and eighth in 2002 for total tonnage (passengers and cargo tonnage), which includes domestic and international passenger and cargo traffic.
Meanwhile, domestic airliners held eleventh place for passenger transportation for the same period. International lines held eighth place in 2002.
Actual transportation results held third place in 2000, fell to fourth in 2001 and rose to second in 2002.
Korea had 3.5% by total tonnage among actual transportation results of member countries, which breaks down into 2.1% for passengers and 6.8% for cargoes.
The Association explained that this means cargo transportation is more developed than that for passengers.
