P&O Nedlloyd's revised Europe to East Coast South America service
In May P&O Nedlloyd's "Lambada" project reaches fruition with the inauguration of a new independent weekly service between Europe and the East Coast South America.
Seven vessels of approximately 1600 TEU capacity (nominal) will operate to a fixed day pattern calling at the following ports; Tilbury, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp, Le Havre, Santos, Paranagua, Buenos Aires, Rio Grande, Itajai, Santos, Salvador returning to Tilbury. Additionally Southbound calls will be made at Bilbao, Lisbon and Recife in alternate weeks; Montevideo, Rio de Janeiro and Lisbon (Northbound) will also be called fortnightly. A programme has been designed with a strong emphasis on schedule integrity.
At that time P&O Nedlloyd's current arrangements as a member of the VSA3 consortium, will end.
The improved operation will allow P&O Nedlloyd to meet market demand in the region including enhanced reefer capacity. The new service will complement P&O Nedlloyd's multitrade network which serves the East Coast South America and will also link with Mercosul Line operations on the Brazilian coast. Mercosul Line will also be used to promote through services to inland destinations in Brazil.
The first Northbound sailing will depart from Buenos Aires on 17 May and the first Southbound sailing will leave Tilbury on 12 May. Full details and schedules will be available from P&O Nedlloyd's office shortly.
