HMM strengthens new trades in Asia/Australia and New Zealand
Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) is opening up new trades to connect Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.
HMM said that it agreed with Russian carrier FESCO to launch a service between the far east and Australia starting from March with five 1,100 TEU container vessels.
The vessels will call at Manila ? Kaohsiung ? Keelung ? Yantian ? Hong Kong ? Melbourne ? Sydney, offering a fixed day weekly service. HMM chartered vessels from FESCO in February.
HMM also launched service for the New Zealand market, chartering 5 vessels from FESCO. The 5 vessels will call at Manila ? HongKong ? Brisbane ? Tauranga ? Lyttelton ? Brisbane, serving a fixed day weekly service.
HMM expected that it would carry 16,000 TEU annually in the two routes.
The main cargoes in the trade from Australia and New Zealand will be meat and dairy products, while general commodities will be transported from Asia to Australia and New Zealand.
