Busan Port Authority (BPA) recently stated that three cruise vessel entered Busan Port on June 2. This is the first time for three cruise ships to enter Busan Port at the same time since the port뭩 opening. Busan city was crowded from the 8,000 tourists arriving on the vessels.
The three cruise ships are the Costa Victoria, the Voyager of the Seas, and the Sapphire Princess. The Costa Victoria left Incheon on the 27th and it has around 1,000 Korean tourists. After Korean passengers disembarked the ship, Chinese passengers boarded and the ship sailed to the Port of Tianjin in China.
Voyager of the Seas is the largest cruise ship sailing in Asia. The ship is 138 thousand tons in gross tonnage, 311 meters in length, and has capacity of 3,100 passengers. Voyager of the Seas left Shanghai, China carrying Chinese tourists, entered Busan Port.
Lastly, Sapphire Princess is a luxurious cruise ship owned by Princess Cruises of Carnival Group. It left Shanghai, China carrying Chinese passengers and sailed to Busan Port.
These cruise vessels berthed at the current Dongsam-dong cruise pier (1 vessel), and at Gamman container pier (2 vessels). BPA is getting provided safety guards and shuttle buses at the terminal for safe berthing and passenger convenience.
Cruise ships are expected to add 4 billion won into the economy by charging vessel entrance & clearance fees, port facility expenses, and sightseeing expenditures.
