Port of Los Angeles container volumes drop 7.2% in June

The Port of LosAngeles has released its June 2013 cargo volumes.

June overall volumes decreased 7.2% compared to June 2012. The decrease was due in part to a vessel service that shifted out of the Port of LosAngeles.

Imports dropped 7.2%, from 353,930 TEU containers in June 2012 to 328,324 TEU this June. Exports decreased 15%, from 174,418 TEU in June 2012 to 148,203 TEU in June 2013.

Combined, total loaded imports and exports for June decreased 9.8%, from 528,348 TEU last June to 476,528 TEU in June 2013. Factoring in empties, which increased 1% year over year, overall June 2013 volumes (646,650 TEU) dropped 7.2% compared to June 2012 (696,847 TEU). < Korea Shipping Gazette >
